Summing up 2011

I thought it would be fun, on the last day of 2011 to actually, officially start this blog! I want to start it out by summing up 2011, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Actually, the bad and the ugly are pretty much all the same. And since a ton of awesomeness happened at the end of the year I can't really think of the bad stuff. So let's just start with the big event: Graduation. My second college graduation. In March I graduated with a Bachelors in Computer Science. It sounds fantastical right? It didn't to me at the time. I was scared to death that I would go no where, that I didn't know enough to get a good job and I was feeling a little lost.

My confidence was so low that I actually applied for a management position in the retail company I was working with at the time. I knew I could get a way better job with my degree and actually have spending money instead of barely scrapping by each month. But I was afraid I would fail. I spent six months thinking my life would always be retail. Retail sucks!

In September I got a call from the college I graduated from and they had a job opportunity for me. I had a feeling I was going to get it as soon as they called me about it. I felt even better after the interview, but I applied for another job around the same time. The second job I applied for I got while I was still at the interview. I didn't really want the job but it was getting me out of retail. Then, a few days later the big call came in and I had the big time job. Now, for the past three months I have been working at BMW in the IT department. How awesome is that?

In a matter of weeks my life took a complete 180. I was stressing because I wasn't going to be able to pay my student loans because my retail job didn't pay enough and I could never do anything because what I made all went to bills and gas. With a new job I got WAY better pay. I was shocked at the pay I was starting out with, I never thought I would EVER make that much an hour. But I do. I even got a raise after about a month and a half of being there. GO ME!

Now, I have my bills under control (I just have to remember to pay them on time) and I get to go out most weekends for a little fun. I have spent too much money in the past three months though and I plan on spending a little less in the coming year.

I also started going to church and I love it! I didn't think there was a church out there for me, but I found that there is.

This year was also the year for reconnecting with friends. I spent a lot of time with two really good friends from High School and I'm planning a trip to see a few other friends sometime in 2012. They are going to wish I never came to visit. lol

This year has been about change. It has been about finding my faith again, growing up but still having fun, and learning that I am stronger than I thought. I finally realized that I am okay with myself. I want to lose weight to be healthy...and maybe to look a little better in fishnet tops and corsets. My sense of fashion doesn't go well with my weight at the moment. I have learned that there is nothing wrong with me. I am single, have been single for a while, and there is a good reason for it...I just don't know what that reason is yet.

2011 has been a great year and I know that 2012 is going to be just as awesome. I have so much planned for the new year. I have so much more learning to do and possibly a little more growing up to do. I plan on having fun and finally living the life I have hidden from for so long.

January 1st, I will post what I have planned for the new year. But I think it is important to take a moment and be thankful for everything that we have been blessed with this past year. If you can't think of anything good that happened, think about this, you lived to see another year!

I wish you all a wonderful and safe New Year!

Much Love

Random Rants

I have a lot to say on some days. I have complaints like everyone else and I would like to voice my frustration, excitement, guilt and sadness right here. I will try to keep the whine out of it...but I can't promise anything.

In the Kitchen

Some days I just want to try something new. I love making cake pops! They are by far my favorite thing to make right now. I want to try new recipes for Lunch and dinner. I would say breakfast but I like to sleep late...so I never have time to cook in the mornings. But here is where you will find my latest adventures In the Kitchen!

Crafts

I don't know what clicked...or when it did but I suddenly want to make things. I want to make anything and everything. My mom made clothes for me when I was younger and now she makes most of the awesome jewelry that I wear. My dad likes to get into wood working, when he can afford the wood that is. And they are both always looking to try new crafts. My dad even likes to make quilts. MY DAD!

So, under this label you will find my newest adventures in crafts. I hope you try your own crafts and share with me.

Fitness Update

I am trying my best to get into shape. I don't think I have ever been in shape, maybe when I was younger I was, but that was a long time ago. I am smaller now than I was in high school, but not much smaller. I just want to be healthy, I want to run without feeling like my lungs are going to bust and I want to feel confident in myself.

Take the journey with me, let's make 2012 be the year we become healthy!

Sunday Service

I have started going back to Church and the Pastor always has something to say that makes me think. I am not pushing my religion or beliefs on anyone. I am open minded and I like learning of other religions and beliefs. I think at the end of the day each opinion has something to add to the value of life. If you are not open minded you may not like what I have to say, so don't come looking to start a fight, you won't get one out of me.

About Me!

I am a writer, a dreamer, I love crafts and I am learning to love cooking. I have accomplished a lot in my life but I want to do so much more.

In March of 2011 I graduated college with a Bachelors in computer science. In September I finally joined the every day life of a full time career. While I was finally making money and able to pay my student loans I was still broke, but some what happy. I was able to throw a Halloween party and buy Christmas gifts for all my favorite people. I still was not completely happy. That is when I picked up my writing pen again and got back to work. Earlier in 2011 I finished a novel that I have been writing for a long while. And finally, with out the stress of needing money off my back my writers block was broken.

On top of that, I started getting into more crafts. Making jewelry with my mom, wood burning, painting, and anything else that I can possibly get my hands on, including cake decorating. Though, my cake decorating has only made it as far as making cake pops for the holidays.

I also started going to Church again. While my views my be different from most religious people I feel like I belong in the Church I now attend. I go to Redemption World Outreach Center (They have a website!)

This is a brand new blog for me. I have blogged a lot over the years and I always start a new blog because the old one was, well, old. I let it collect dust and decided to let the dust cover it completely. But I have a reason for starting this new blog.

I want to capture everything in my life in 2012. I feel like it is going to be an awesome year. I have huge plans and I can't wait to get them up and running.

I am going to have a few things that I will write about. Sundays I will record my weight and talk about my struggles through the week with staying on the straight and narrow in order to become a healthier person physically. Monday's I would like to reflect on Church from Sunday morning, just because I don't want to make one post too much. The rest of the week I will have crafts that I am working on and possibly a new recipe that I am trying out. I want to take the world on a journey with me as I create myself the way I was always meant to be. I will try new things and hopefully encourage a few others to try new things with me.

Let's have an awesome 2012!

Much Love,
Heather
