Sometimes secrets come out

I had planned on blogging about the whole SOPA thing, but you should all know what that is by now. If not...google it.

Then I was going to blog about parents watching their kids better, but I will save that for another day.

Why?

Well, I found out a secret today that has me totally freaking out! It's one of those secrets that makes everything make sense.

I started my new job back in September. I was supposed to help pull data and put it into the system. I was pretty much hired to be an assistant. Yeah, I was a little ashamed when I realized that. I sat at my computer with nothing to do really, so I pretended to work. Then, suddenly I am learning new things. I am learning new programs and being introduced to a database creating program. I won't say the name because then you might figure out where I work and...I might get in trouble for that.

My coworker, the one that has been teaching me all this stuff has all of a sudden started teaching me everything he knows.

Now, something my dad has always drilled into my brain for...ever. You NEVER teach someone everything you know about a job. Most of the time, you teach yourself the job. And teaching someone everything you have learned on the job is giving that person a way to go beyond what you have taken a while to learn yourself.

At first, when my coworker started teaching me all this stuff I thought he was being nice. I thought he really wanted to help me go far in the company. I totally trust people and take things for face value way to much and way to easily.

Today, my coworker received a phone call today and of course I eavesdropped...a little bit. By the content that I heard I already assumed it was a job offer. When he got off the phone he told me that I should learn this program because I could get a really good job with it and that was what his call was about.

Now, he didn't say straight up that he had another job or that he was leaving so I could totally be jumping to conclusions. But, it all makes sense now. All the pieces are coming together and painting this awesomely great picture of what I am about to fall into. I followed the rabbit and I am about to fall into the rabbit hole!

What is about to happen is my coworker is going to try and cram my brain with everything he can before he leaves me to take on all this work. All of it on me...just me.

A few questions come to mind. Will they bring in another person to help me? Did they bring me in because they knew my coworker was getting ready to leave? Will they expect too much for me? And finally, why did I not see this coming?!

I am going to have to bust my tail to learn these programs before I am left alone to fend for myself. I have so much to learn and understand. OMG! This is going to be crazy. *Panic attack* AHHHH!!!

Wish me luck!

Much Love

Summing up 2011

I thought it would be fun, on the last day of 2011 to actually, officially start this blog! I want to start it out by summing up 2011, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Actually, the bad and the ugly are pretty much all the same. And since a ton of awesomeness happened at the end of the year I can't really think of the bad stuff. So let's just start with the big event: Graduation. My second college graduation. In March I graduated with a Bachelors in Computer Science. It sounds fantastical right? It didn't to me at the time. I was scared to death that I would go no where, that I didn't know enough to get a good job and I was feeling a little lost.

My confidence was so low that I actually applied for a management position in the retail company I was working with at the time. I knew I could get a way better job with my degree and actually have spending money instead of barely scrapping by each month. But I was afraid I would fail. I spent six months thinking my life would always be retail. Retail sucks!

In September I got a call from the college I graduated from and they had a job opportunity for me. I had a feeling I was going to get it as soon as they called me about it. I felt even better after the interview, but I applied for another job around the same time. The second job I applied for I got while I was still at the interview. I didn't really want the job but it was getting me out of retail. Then, a few days later the big call came in and I had the big time job. Now, for the past three months I have been working at BMW in the IT department. How awesome is that?

In a matter of weeks my life took a complete 180. I was stressing because I wasn't going to be able to pay my student loans because my retail job didn't pay enough and I could never do anything because what I made all went to bills and gas. With a new job I got WAY better pay. I was shocked at the pay I was starting out with, I never thought I would EVER make that much an hour. But I do. I even got a raise after about a month and a half of being there. GO ME!

Now, I have my bills under control (I just have to remember to pay them on time) and I get to go out most weekends for a little fun. I have spent too much money in the past three months though and I plan on spending a little less in the coming year.

I also started going to church and I love it! I didn't think there was a church out there for me, but I found that there is.

This year was also the year for reconnecting with friends. I spent a lot of time with two really good friends from High School and I'm planning a trip to see a few other friends sometime in 2012. They are going to wish I never came to visit. lol

This year has been about change. It has been about finding my faith again, growing up but still having fun, and learning that I am stronger than I thought. I finally realized that I am okay with myself. I want to lose weight to be healthy...and maybe to look a little better in fishnet tops and corsets. My sense of fashion doesn't go well with my weight at the moment. I have learned that there is nothing wrong with me. I am single, have been single for a while, and there is a good reason for it...I just don't know what that reason is yet.

2011 has been a great year and I know that 2012 is going to be just as awesome. I have so much planned for the new year. I have so much more learning to do and possibly a little more growing up to do. I plan on having fun and finally living the life I have hidden from for so long.

January 1st, I will post what I have planned for the new year. But I think it is important to take a moment and be thankful for everything that we have been blessed with this past year. If you can't think of anything good that happened, think about this, you lived to see another year!

I wish you all a wonderful and safe New Year!
